Linux Scientific Platform Specialist

One of the biggest international pharmaceutical companies with HQ in Basel is looking for a Linux Scientific Platform Specialist with Experience ina pharmaceutical environment.
This is a challenging contracting position starting in August 2018 until the end of the year.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Ensures installation, configuration and operation of the scientific platform environment to achieve the performance and agility of the various applications supported (in the range of several hundreds)
- Definition of HPC/HTC workflows and job submission optimization activities
- Assist with scientific application and data analysis tool set build, installation, configuration, maintenance and advanced tuning
- Contributes to the concept, planning and execution of projects
Requirements:
- Minimum requirement of a Bachelor computer science or equivalent, ideally a Master
- 7 years of experience working with large scale Linux/HPC environments
- Knowledge of HPC cluster build and management tools (eg bright, xcat)
- Knowledge of Workload management and architecture, queue configuration, such as SLURM
- 10 years general Linux system administration skills; DevOps approach
- Senior level technical operational skills, such as troubleshooting, capacity planning, and root cause analysis
- Scientific knowledge or awareness - bioinformatics, cheminformatics, life sciences; desirable understanding of Computer Systems Validation and ITIL concept
- Professional Linux related certifications
- Fluent in English
Nice to Haves:
- Desirable experience, installation and configuration of scientific applications particularly on a Linux/Unix platform (eg Schrodinger, Moe, Bowtie, Gromacs, R, Python, Matlab, Topspin, Pipeline Pilot) and 2)
- Experience of Linux build and packaging tools (eg Make, CMake, Easybuild, RPM, Yum)
- Good German skills
- Programming skills in high level languages such as Java or C++ are a plus
- Experience with cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure, GCP
