We are a Life Science and IT service provider that has been successfully carrying out ‘state-of-the- art’ projects for international customers for more than 20 years. Our consultants mainly work on our customer’s premises, integrated in the customer’s project team.

Background:

For one of our clients in the finacnial sector we're looking for an experienced Windows Server Consultant

To work as a member of the IMS Customer & Technology team. As part of this team, primary responsibilities will include the design, implementation and maintenance of and third-level support for enterprise-class software and hardware (front and back end) in a Microsoft environment.



Principal Accountabilities:

Infrastructure Services

Primary responsibility is to ensure best practice implementation of core server, database and infrastructure application technologies. To manage and evolve the existing technologies within sphere of responsibility to ensure a secure, supportable and highly available environment. Responsible for providing a stable infrastructure, network, database and infrastructure application environment for a range of applications as assigned. The technologies involved are located across two remote data centres (in Zurich and Basel) with extensions to regional offices.

Infrastructure Application Services

To support and maintain business-critical infrastructure applications and their dependencies as assigned. This includes involvement in developing forward-thinking processes ensuring the reliability and suitability to business of these applications across various industry-leading hardware technologies. Requirement to be flexible and have a desire to learn new technologies as the role requires. Strong knowledge required of industry best practices for the systems being supported.

IT Change and Release Management

Leads (tests, coordinates and implements) changes related to new releases or design changes to the environment, in cooperation with other internal teams and external service providers.

Project Management

Manages and delivers IT projects – including, but not limited to, the management of both project and operational budgets.

Supplier Management

Assist supplier owners in proactive supplier management, including deliverables, contract and SLA management including service definitions, and contract and commercial negotiations. Manages customer relationships with both external service providers and internal customers.

Secondary Accountabilities:

Secondary responsibility is to provide backup support for other team members when required – involving infrastructure technologies, database technologies, application deployment, mail systems and Active Directory, as applicable.

Key Competencies

Broad understanding of IT best practice and its application in a business environment.
Sound understanding of latest trends in technology, customer and vendor management.
Ability to negotiate effectively, both within and outside the organization.
Practical experience of participating in IT initiatives.
Formal project / program management experience.
Excellent customer management skills.
An understanding of and an ability to follow change management procedures
Practical presentation and communication skills, able to present points clearly and convincingly.
Ability to demonstrate initiative, drive and enthusiasm.
Ability to actively work to support culture change initiatives and tackle cultural barriers.
Good overall knowledge of the dependencies and how they interact, e.g. with regard to the technologies involved in core server, networking, database and application technologies
Ability to provide third-level support and design input in an enterprise environment.
Readiness to work outside normal working hours during service windows and to provide on-call cover for evenings and weekend.


Technical Requirements

Proven in-depth knowledge and experience of Windows server technology, SQL Server, SQL Reporting Services, SQL Analysis Services, SQL server clustering, MSDE, MS Access, IIS, TCP/IP, Active Directory (Kerberos-trusted for delegation), PowerShell, Windows Scripting Host, and other programming or scripting languages.
Understanding of networking technologies and associated infrastructure.
Skills in the areas of system design, performance benchmarking, implementation, anti-virus technologies, system monitoring, Exchange Server, Citrix, Alteris, DNS, SCOM, SharePoint Technologies, VMware ESX, and file system security (NTFS).
Microsoft Certification in SQL server an advantage
