Project environment
A Swiss Private Bank is looking for a Senior System Engineer with profound knowledge and skills on server hardware and operating systems, infrastructure, networking, oracle database, programming UNIX shells and Perl.
Tasks
• Kick start, start up, shutdown, firmware etc. (HP blade enclosure BLc7000 with Blade Servers BL460c Gen8 and Gen9, running Red Hat Enterprise Linux).
• Start up, shutdown, live upgrade, etc. (Oracle server T51x0 and M5000, running Solaris 10).
• Cooperation with IT sections network, Firewall, Unix, Operating, etc.
• Set-up & configuration of systems (Linux Red Hat Servers, Windows Clients).
• Maintenance and set up client connectivity to Oracle Databases in close collaboration with a Database Support Team
• Network configurations and Analysis in case of error situations.
• Design, Setting up Backup, Restore and Maintain Archiving and Purge procedures.
• Managing multiple production and test environments.
• Provide solutions for disaster recovery and perform regular tests.
• Set-up scripts to run scheduled tasks.
• Cooperation with FX front personnel and FX user representatives regarding FX trade flow set-up and issues.
• Design, set-up and configuration layout of FX systems.
• Set-up and Maintain FX trade interfaces, external e-tools, FX Market Tools and FX Platforms.
• Integration of applications distributed over a network.
• Trouble shooting higher level issues on lower layers by means of e.g. strace, truss, snoop, tcpdump etc.
• Occasionally weekend software integration will be required as well as stand-by for emergency duties.
Requirements
Networking skills:
• Working knowledge of the concepts of layers, IP and routing, TCP and connections, NAT, Firewalls.
Programming skills:
• Working knowledge of Unix, Shells and Perl.
Systems skills:
• Integration of applications distributed over a network.
• Experience with Sun Solaris, Linux Red Hat and Windows Clients.
• Experience with Sun Sparc running on Solaris 10 and 11.
Additional skills:
• 5+ years post collegiate work experience.
• Know how to use system tools or methods and be familiar with concepts related to statistics, logistics, reliability, system analysis, and system process optimization.
• Experience with FX-platforms / in financial industry is a plus.
• Foreign Exchange business knowledge is a plus.
Bank Applications skills:
• Experience with FX Back Office Settlement System, FX Risk Management System, FX Limit order System and Collateral Management tools.
Soft skills
• Fluent in German and English, written and spoken.
