An opportunity has arisen for an immediate start with one of our prestigious clients for a Data Engineer on a 6-month contract with possibility of extension.The role is tackling a range of complex software and data challenges, including data management, advanced analytics, and business intelligence. This role is pivotal to implement, maintain and support data pipelines using shared data platforms.
This role is a project base role. The scope of the project is to build a new Data warehouse solution in the finance area and it is in initiating phase. We are looking to hire an intermediate level Data Engineer able to support the project with data modelling and data pipeline implementation.
Essential skills and qualifications:
- 5+ years work experience as a Data Engineer/BI Developer.
- Extensive experience working with RDBMS, designing physical models, authoring SQL queries and procedural extensions.
- Strong, in-depth experience in data modelling and experience with business intelligence systems (dimensional modelling, data vault, data mining, predictive analytics).
- Working knowledge of Apache NiFi and experience developing SQL-based data pipelines.
- Hands-on development using open-source big data technologies such as Hadoop, Hive and Impala.
- Very good communication skills and ability take initiative
- Experience with object-oriented/object function scripting languages: Python, Java, Scala, etc.
- Knowledge of Service-oriented architecture and experience in API creation and management technologies (REST, SOAP etc) ·
