System Engineer

I am currently supporting our big client from the finance environment located in Zurich. We are looking for an experienced System Engineer. The ideal is a candidate with an extensive, proven experience in installing, configuring, implementing, tuning and debugging Websphere Application Server for z/OS in a large IT environment.

General information:

- Start date: 01.02.2022 or ASAP negotiable

- Duration: 12 months with a high extension opportunity

- Work amount: 100%

- Daily rate: competitive (to be discussed)

- Home Office: yes, mix onsite-offsite

Responsibilities:

- Apply latest fixpacks and ifixes

- Define/modify of Datasources

- Problem diagnoses and opening of vendor problem records

- Monitor systems performance and tune when appropriate

- Use infrastructure performance reports/metrics to identify improvement opportunities

- Develop health check scripts, processes and procedures

- Document changes to Infrastructure configuration

- Update system configuration and resource definitions when required

- Support developer community regarding application servers and the deployment thereof

- Provide oncall for outside of business hours support (approximately one full week per month on the evenings and weekends)

Profile:

- Verbal and written communication skills in English (German a bonus), problem solving skills
- Excellent Websphere (Grid) know-how on z/OS (Scripting, Tuning, Debugging)
- Excellent know-how in USS (shell scripting, BPXBATCH, USS security, ACL)
- Excellent WLM know-how related to WAS (Reporting and interpretation)
- Very good Java Debugging skills
- Very good z/OS, Java development and deployment tooling
- Good know-how on Monitoring zWAS (using Dynatrace)
