WebSphere Engineer
Job Description:
A software engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing software solutions from small components, to entire applications, to owning the development of software solutions spanning multiple complex systems. Software Engineers will adhere to the established life cycle methodology and practices, in accordance to project plans while carrying out their responsibilities. Director and Executive Director Software Engineers will be expected to have significant domain expertise in one or more technical areas and be responsible for mentoring and delegating work to multiple Application Developers.
Main Responsibilities:

Development of JAVA based tooling and product based installation scripts

Provide in depth knowledge for installing, configuring and operating WebSphere App Server and Tomcat
-
Offer good knowledge in JACL/Jython Scripting to allow modification of WebSphere configuration
-
Create and maintain Shell Scripts and Ant scripts for automating platform setup and application deployment
-
Raise and track product defects with the vendor (IBM, Red Hat)
-
Provide support for tracing and analysing defective applications ( in development and test)
Required experience/skills:
-
Provide in depth knowledge for installing, configuring and operating WebSphere App Server and Tomcat

Configuration of all security aspects of a web container or web server
-
Provide support for application integration into the web platform eco system

Create and maintain Shell Scripts and Ant scripts for automating platform setup and application deployment Raise and track product defects with the vendor (IBM, Red Hat)

Provide support for tracing and analysing defective applications ( in development and test)

Able to suggest changes for enhancement to the tools, workflow, process and reporting.

Experience with WebSphere App Server, IHS, Tomcat, Apache

Experience in Java, JEE

Good knowledge of Shell-Scripting and tools (Shell, Ant, JIRA, Confluence)

Good knowledge of Unix (RHEL, Solaris x86/SPARC)

Good knowledge in SSL, certificate handling and PKI
-
Good interpersonal skills the role involves coordinating activities with resources and communicating clearly to SME's and Application developers.

Working knowledge on building RPMs for RHEL

Working knowledge of application development framework Spring
-
Working knowledge of IT infrastructure including virtualisations and Storage concepts.
