PMO - Change and Financial Accounting - IFRS 9

My client is looking for a project management office (PMO) position within Accounting Change and Financial Accounting Experts (AC&FAE) team in Group Accounting & Regional Controlling Switzerland. The responsibility of this role is to work as part of the project team tasked with implementing the IFRS 9 - Expected Credit Loss (ECL) accounting standard.
The IFRS 9 - ECL adoption project is a key Strategic Regulatory Initiative (SRI) is co-sponsored by the Group CFO and Group CRO.
In order to support the project team, my client is looking for an experienced PMO to work in a cross-functional environment with multiple stakeholders to support with the implementation of the IFRS 9 - ECL requirements. We offer the opportunity to become an integral part of an exceptionally well-functioning team and acquire valuable skills in accounting and credit risk management practice within UBS. The role will be part of an international implementation team.

Responsibilities:

  • Defining, tracking and updating the detailed project plan with milestones, deadlines, key deliverables, resources etc on a regular basis to ensure that the project is delivering on time and as per the project plan
  • Tailoring the project execution approach to meet projects needs and ensuring continuous process improvement
  • Tracking the IFRS 9 -ECL project costs, invoices, accruals and providing a regular update on the budget versus actual spend to the project steering committee, initiative manager, senior sponsor and other key stakeholders including the SRI team
  • Maintaining the project issues log with due date, responsible and track for timely closure of the open actions as well as key project-related internal and external industry meetings
  • Preparing project progress report including project milestone, risks, assumptions, issues and dependency (MRAID) list with periodic update to the SRI team
  • Supporting in the preparation and running of project workshops including setting up the meetings, preparing the workshop materials by working with the work stream leads, taking minutes, issues and actions from the meeting etc.
  • Managing relationship and ensuring effective collaboration with all project stakeholders
  • Establishing the project SharePoint site to ensure that all the relevant project documents are stored and maintained appropriately for audit tracking purposes
  • Establishing a project Intranet site to communicate project related information to a wider audience within the bank
  • Supporting in the development of project education modules for roll-out within the organization by working closely with the risk and finance subject matter experts
  • Run well managed, audit proof project

Requirements

  • Degree or equivalent with 2-4 years of work experience in a similar role, preferably as project management office or junior PM or business management
  • Project Management certification would be an advantage
  • Prior work experience in a bank or financial institution preferably within the Finance, Risk, Treasury or Compliance function. UBS bank set-up and know-how would be an advantage
  • Excellent command of English (native speaker or proficiency level) with fluent German being an added advantage
  • Excellent inter-personal and communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Planning and organizational skills, able to multi-task with ease and attention to details
  • Proactive and focused, able to work on own initiative and prioritize own workload
  • Ability to work in a Matrix organization
  • Ability to work to regular and sometimes challenging deadlines
  • Team player in a dynamic environment
  • Proficient MS Office user (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint)
