For our esteemed banking client with a global reputation for excellence in their field, Swisslinx are looking for an experienced and Senior System Engineer with strong Linux knowhow for a challenging permanent role in Basel, Switzerland.

Joining a highly professional and motivated team, the primary focus of the senior system engineer will comprise of the design, implementation and maintenance of enterprise-class software and hardware in a Linux environment, as well as L3 support. This will include ensuring the best-practice implementation of core server, database and infrastructure application technologies as well as contribution to the evolution of the existing technologies within the sphere of responsibility to ensure a secure, supportable and highly available environment. Additional responsibilities consist of providing a stable infrastructure, network, and database and infrastructure application environment for a range of application. In addition you will lead and deliver IT projects, take responsibility for the implementation of change across the organisation and maintenance of business critical applications.
In order to be considered for this role, you will possess the following skills and experience:
- Master's university degree or equivalent experience
- In-depth knowledge and experience in the areas of system design, installation, operation, monitoring and support of Linux, ideally Red Hat Enterprise
- Experience with virtual environments/infrastructures (eg VMWare)
- Experience in Perl and Shell Scripting
- Knowledge of Monitoring, ideally Microsoft System Centre, SCOM and/or Nagios
- Excellent general infrastructure know-how, with experience in complex heterogeneous IT environments
- Experience with Change Management procedures.
- Willing to take over call-out responsibilities in the relevant areas.
- Fluency in English (additional languages a plus)
- You are a self starter and have the ability to pick new concepts up quickly
