Job Description:
Overview of business area or project:
The contractor will work in Client Tax Reporting IT where applications to produce tax reports for the bank clients are developed. The tax reports requires a lot of data from all over the banks systems and can get quite complex. High quality is very important. There are multiple large projects for different business and regulatory purposes running at the same time. The applications are built on the bank standard IT platforms based on Java/JEE/Linux and Mainframe - plus a third party .net application for an AEI (automatic exchange of information) reporting. Many projects have regulatory deadlines or tight schedules so that flexibility and strong team work is required. One of the current and most important projects is AEI (automatic exchange of information) to fulfil regulatory requirements for Switzerland according to OECD CRS standard.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage installation, maintenance and upgrades of a 3th party .NET application on windows Servers
- Run database upgrade scripts, migration queries and analyze performance problems
- Analyze technical and functional issues in application, logs, database etc. and coordinate with the vendor and business
- Communication of release dates and notes and current issues and limitations to other teams
- Actively participate in sprints with daily standup and retrospectives
- Continuously improve the deployment process to allow automated and ensuring successful promotion.
- Document systems infrastructure for users, support, consulting personnel and developers
Overview of the department/team (team size, backgrounds, personalities):
The contractor will work in a team of about 20 people with about 10 business engineers and 10 software engineers. The team structure is quite diverse. There are very experienced senior engineers but also trainees. Most of the people work at the bank for many years and live near Lucerne. The team works with an agile approach and two weeks sprints. Communication language is usually German but many meetings are also held in English. Documents are mainly English. Main contact persons of the contractor will be some business engineers, the current application integrator and the solution architect of the team. Team work (and team events) are very important for the current team.
Challenges Contractor will be facing in this role:
The contractor will face a .NET third party software and an existing landscape of (Java) applications with many components and interfaces and partially complex grown systems. Very good analytical skills and fast learning are required to understand the systems, improve the application integration and in particular the installation procedures.
Essentials Skills and Qualifications:
Soft skills:

- Good written and oral communication skills in German & English
- Experience working in a diverse, team-focused environment with many stakeholders
Tech skills:
- Strong experience managing full 3 tier application stacks from the OS up through IIS hosted and CLI Windows-Applications (Ms.NET Framework)
- Hands-on experience with Server Side deployment (.Net, IIS, Jenkins, Atlassian Toolsuite)
- Strong knowledge of:
- Packaging windows application and configuration
- Windows batch Scripting and Shell Scripting
- REST web-services
- Source control software (preferably SVN)
- Continuous integration tools (preferably Jenkins)
Desired Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience in the bank IT on Windows platform (technical environment, standards, processes, procedures)
- Experience in C#.Net application development
- Authentication and authorization - PKI's, LDAP, SAML, OAuth
