Application Support, Trading, English (Contract, Zurich)

On behalf of our international client in the finance sector, Swisslinx are looking for a dynamic and motivated Support Analyst with solid Unix and SQL experience and a background in the finance industry for a contract position in Zurich.

This is a rolling six month contract starting in May 2016.

As the ideal candidate, you will possess the following skills and experience:

  • At least 3 years application support experience, ideally in the banking sector

  • Solid experience with Unix as well as a good understanding of Unix processes and file handling (log files etc)

  • Database querying (SQL) and an understanding of relational-database DDL

  • Dealing with business queries within the trading & sales environment in a high-pressure business

  • Ability to be able to communicate across a wide spectrum of stakeholders including senior managers within the business and IT

  • Experience in performing trading support within an FX environment for a financial services organization nice to have but not essential

  • Keen learner and someone who is seeking a long-term career

  • English language essential (German nice to have)

As the successful candidate you will join a team of committed and passionate individuals working in a dynamic and fast paced environment. You will be responsible for leading a team providing day-to-day 2nd Level Technical Support on a wide variety of software applications used across our client's trading and sales businesses.

Your role includes working on incidents and problems as well as contributing to the teams delivery to our business clients and technical stakeholders. Your solutions will directly benefit our internal users and external clients. This is an excellent opportunity to further a career in technology through a challenging role leading a team responsible for supporting critical software.

Your tasks will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Building relationships with our key stakeholders from the relevant areas particularly within application development and the business community.

  • Actively identifying knowledge, performance and quality gaps within the team and addressing them using hands-on face-to-face coaching, both on the job and through one-to-ones

  • Leading major incidents to ensure that incidents which may have an adverse impact are appropriately escalated and resolved

  • Driving improvements across software applications including monitoring and automation
