Software Asset Manager/Technical IT Sourcer, Banking, Zurich

For our client, an international bank with a global reach, Swisslinx are looking for a highly motivated Software Asset Manager with a technical background to work as part of a global Demand Management team in Zurich.

This is a 3 month contract with a strong chance of renewal starting ASAP.

As the successful candidate you have a background in IT sourcing and show the ability to understand in depth software licensing or you are a software engineer/architect with a commercial background and experience analysing software contracts.

You will possess the following skills and experience:

  • 6+ years' experience in IT and/or sourcing in a role as software asset manager, software sourcing expert, software compliance manager or software auditor
  • Broad understanding of banking software suppliers and application portfolio with cost management experience and commercial orientation
  • Understanding of software contract construction, software license measurements and experiences in negotiating software contracts, Software as a Service and other managed services agreements
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and ability to articulate complex scenarios simplistically

In your role as software asset manager you will work in the Demand Management team responsible for bridging technical requirements and software sourcing.

Your responsibilities will include the following:

  • Manage internal client relationship by clearly understanding their book of work, and attain a trusted advisor status for commercial activities related to software spend
  • Review all proposed technology investments from your clients and ensure that they are strategically aligned with the department's strategic goals.
  • Develop annual deal calendar and updated quarterly, which includes new spend and existing commitments (eg maintenance renewals)
  • Collaborate with product managers and other internal clients to plan and optimize their capital spending, support them to navigate through spend governance processes
  • Partner with the Sourcing & Vendor Management to create deal structures that optimizes cost and other terms for the full life cycle of the proposed investment
  • Identify, analyse and pursue cost savings opportunities
  • Participate and materially contribute in cross functional deal negotiation teams
  • Track, document and report cost savings achieved
  • Drive innovation by suggesting improvements/changes to current processes.
  • Perform maintenance audits to ensure bank is invoiced appropriately
