Senior General Accountant

Our client, a well named pharmaceutical company is looking for you.
In this position you are responsible for general ledger activities which include coordination of monthly closing and reporting activities.
Besides month-end tasks this consists of mid-month activities and contribution to the APL Finance Initiatives agenda.
You will deliver high quality reporting with insightful financial information for key stakeholders.
Major Accountabilities:
- Accountability for coordination of the monthly close process and general ledger ac-counting activities for Alcon Pharmaceuticals Ltd, including accruals, provisions, royalties, scientific office expense review, etc.
- Responsibility for application of the Novartis Accounting Manual.
- Lead the implementation of new accounting standards and new requirements according to the Novartis Accounting Manual (NAM).
- Leading role in timely submission of financial information including general ledger and FCRS for Alcon Pharmaceuticals Ltd. This includes a close coordination with other de-partments such as Inventory, Intercompany, Customer Service, Supply Chain teams etc.
- Ensure high quality monthly reporting through processes such as Balance Sheet and P&L review
- Responsibility for preparation and review of Balance Sheet accounts reconciliations in line with quality Novartis standard
- Leading role in review and coordination of entire process of reconciliations
- Strive for best practices and efficiency
- Responsibility for design and operating effectiveness of internal controls as per Novartis Financial Controls Manual
- Promote a "strong and no exception" control environment and operate according to Standard Operating Procedures
- Preparation and/or review of additional external reporting requirements such as Swiss National Bank statistics
- Key contact person for external auditors providing data and reports required for group and statutory audits
- Change Management & Projects
- Pro-active identification of opportunities to improve and optimize existing financial processes and leading role in projects designed to implement these improvements
- Lead finance related process changes to achieve best practice by proactively identifying gaps to standards, initiating and formulating change projects with IT and Finance management
- Be point of reference and expertise in the area of FRA for initiatives and projects led by other departments or sites
- Lead Accounting and Reporting projects to increase effectiveness and efficiency
- Proactively manage project status, potential gaps and next steps to ensure objectives are met
Ideal Background:
- Bachelor degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance
- At least 5 years' experience in a Finance role with focus on General Accounting in an international company
- Hands on experience with Accounting, Month End Closing and Reporting with Internal Controls
- Strong organization and communication skills demonstrated by results in cross functional, multicultural activities. Ability to drive for results and meet project deadlines.
- Proven ability to collaborate with business stakeholders and work in team, to initiate and implement process changes
- Challenge the status quo and always look for opportunities to simplify and enhance Finance activities
- Ability to act in a complex, culturally diverse, changing business environment and project deadlines
- Knowledge of working on ERP systems
- English fluent
