Chief Operation Officer Lab Operations (m/f/d)

Main tasks:
  • The COO is responsible for operational leadership for lab operation, lab staff management, develop guidelines, promote, sell and sign membership contracts, negotiate and develop new locations, and will closely coordinate and work with CEO and other team members
  • Ability to manage multi locations (work procedure development, organization of laboratory facilities, maintenance of equipment, management of ordering of laboratory supplies, training of new lab members)
  • Plan, develop, implement, and direct the lab operational function and performance, developing and implementing the operation process and programs, introduction of new strategies and regulatory actions
  • Design and implementing processes, procedures, guidelines and QC system of all labs
  • Create, improve, implement, standardize and enforce policies and procedures of the lab organization that will improve operational and financial effectiveness and attractiveness of all labs
  • Improve the planning and budgeting process on a continual basis.
  • Develop credibility and authority system, support on development of digital product and application of emerging technologies
  • Work with finance team to develop cost optimization and reporting mechanism
  • Leading role on negotiating and signing agreements for collaboration with partners and platforms such as animal facilities, clinical trials, hospitals, universities, big pharma and institutions etc.
  • Financial and administrative management of the lab
  • Set up KPI of all lab staffs and location managers
  • Responsible for regulations, compliance, insurance, sales for all locations
  • Open new markets, setting up new locations, long distance operations
  • Monthly quarterly reports to the board members, and other necessary documentations
  • Workplace will be in Zurich, sometimes Lausanne, Basel and other cities in Europe


Main qualifications
  • Scientific background
  • Laboratory experience or biopharma management.
  • Executive Presence and ability maintain calm demeanor in high stress environments
  • Professional lab management experience in world-top lab facilities
  • Precise, professional, systematic, loyal, collaborative, supportive, open minded, hands on
  • BSL2 officer
  • Communication in English and German. French is a plus
