Portfolio and Program Management Analyst - Data Analysis / Excel / Tableau / R / PythonRole:
For our pharma client in Basel we are looking for a Portfolio and Program Management Analyst (m/w/d).
Background:
Portfolio and Program Management (PPM) is an integral part of the Roche Pharma Research and Early Development (pRED) organisation and the centre of excellence for Portfolio and Program Management skills and knowledge applied to the development of molecules from Entry into Portfolio up to the end of the pivotal-enabling study. As a member of PPM, you are a strategic partner, helping both pRED molecule project teams and governance bodies, to make the best decisions, navigate the future and bring novel therapeutics to patients. A position in PPM provides an outstanding opportunity to influence R&D from research through Phase 2, across many therapeutic areas. It requires interactions with partners from the Research, Clinical, Development Sciences, Regulatory and Commercial organisations. As Portfolio and Program Management Analyst, you will collaborate with peers and across the organisation to manage various data streams surrounding our portfolio, and surface knowledge and insights around our R&D productivity. You will combine various data elements and run analyses to address molecule and disease area questions - and with that contribute to strategy and decision making for pRED's portfolio. You will also contribute in spreading a data-driven decision-making culture within pRED and across the broader Roche organisation.
The perfect candidate:
The PPM team is looking for Portfolio and Program Management Analyst who has life science experience. Also important is that the person has a data analytical mindset and is experienced with using databases. It can also be someone who has consultancy experience and joined the pharmaceutical area later. Tableau/Spotfire and/or coding knowledge is not necessary however is a strong advantage.
Areas of responsibility:
- Hands-on involvement in the full data analysis process (from data sourcing, to data curation and preparation, to analysis, model validation, and visualisation). This includes being involved in designing the data and insights generation and collection process, as well as communicating partial and final results throughout projects;
- Produce high-quality data preparation and analyses scripts/pipelines that are readable, understandable, scalable, re-usable, and reproducible;
- In collaboration with internal IT groups, design processes and reporting models to enable various stakeholders to access and maintain their own data in real-time and through user[1]interface front-ends;
- Maintain, manage, and continually improve data taxonomies and the knowledgebase around our R&D portfolio data;
- Assist the PPM team in acquiring, managing, and developing new data assets to support portfolio decision-making, and develop new and innovative analyses through the integration of various data sources;
- Ensure alignment of cross-functional assumptions for a consolidated project view;
- Upon request prepare and update regular reports on progress of portfolio and implications (incl. strategic context) for senior managers and provide input to cross-portfolio reports;
- Produce and present high-quality analysis, presentations and documentation to senior management in order to support decision making using various analytical tools such as Tableau;
- Provides input to help facilitate annual prioritisation, goal setting, and business planning processes.

Must haves:
- Minimum 1-2 years' experience in the pharmaceutical/related industries or management consultancy
- Min. Life Sciences or data sciences graduate with an advanced degree (MBA and/or PharmD/PhD desirable)
- Experience with using databases, data analysis skills and spreadsheets; advanced Excel and/or Google sheets skills are needed
- Well-developed strategic and analytical mindset with a demonstrable ability to integrate and synthesise findings from multiple sources to enable informed strategic decision-making.
- Excellent communication / presentation skills are needed. You can explain your ideas, are persuasive and can demonstrate new approaches to solve problems.
