I help organizations in laboratories, R&D, manufacturing and operations transform fragmented data sources, manual processes and disconnected systems into reliable, maintainable and automated workflow platforms.
Data Platforms & Workflow Automation
- Design and implementation of laboratory data platforms (GLP and non-GLP ELN-style systems)
- Custom workflow and business process automation platforms (including ERP-style scheduling and control systems)
- Automated data synchronization and integration across multiple sources and workstations
- Heterogeneous data ingestion, standardization and pipeline development (Excel, instruments, databases)
- Knowledge management and cross-domain data sharing platforms
Real-time & IoT Systems
- End-to-end IoT sensor data platforms (firmware, backend processing and visualization dashboards)
- Real-time data pipelines and monitoring solutions for laboratory and operational environments
- Integration of microcontrollers and industrial protocols with modern backend and frontend systems
Legacy Modernization & Architecture
- Migration of monolithic applications to scalable microservices architectures
- Performance optimization and architectural redesign of existing data and workflow systems
- Introduction of modern development practices (CI/CD, Scrum)
Technologies
Strong full-stack capabilities including Python (data pipelines & backend), React/TypeScript, Java, C#/.NET, graph and document databases (ArangoDB, Neo4j, MongoDB), Grafana, microcontrollers (ESP32/Arduino), Docker, and industrial protocols (OPC).
Client work and results
For more than 12 years I have worked with regulated R&D and technical environments, most notably at Philip Morris International’s R&D center in Neuchâtel. Projects include production-grade IoT sensor platforms still in daily use, GLP-validated laboratory workflow systems, non-GLP ELN-style platforms, automated data synchronization engines, and major legacy modernization initiatives that reduced processing times from weeks to hours. I received two Excellence Awards for my contributions.
I have also delivered custom workflow and scheduling platforms (ERP-style systems) and data integration solutions outside pure laboratory contexts, always focusing on practical, production-ready outcomes.
Working style
I combine deep technical expertise with a pragmatic and collaborative approach. I focus on understanding the real operational pain points, deliver working solutions through fast prototyping, and ensure the final systems are maintainable by the client’s teams. I adapt modern practices such as microservices, CI/CD and clean architecture where they add clear value, without unnecessary complexity.
Availability
I am open to projects involving laboratory digitalization, custom workflow and data platform development, IoT sensor integration, data pipeline and integration work, legacy system modernization, and ERP-style business process automation systems.

Projekthistorie
Designed and developed a custom ERP-style system to manage and optimize trips for handicapped children using taxi services. Included scheduling, monitoring, reporting and efficient resource allocation.
Designed and delivered a complete real-time IoT platform including firmware, desktop control application, backend processing and Grafana dashboards. The system is still in daily production use in a regulated R&D environment.
Built and validated a GLP-compliant platform for managing climatic chamber inventory with automated workflows, notifications and regulatory reporting. Significantly improved traceability and operational efficiency in a regulated laboratory.
