For our client, a pharmaceutical company in Switzerland, we are looking for a motivated and ambitious:

Senior Business Analyst - with line management experience

Our client is launching a program to streamline and improve information access across the organization called STRIVE. STRIVE is structured into three major workgroups: (1) Business Design; (2) Information and Architecture; and (3) Releases - all supported by a program office. The Information and Architecture workgroup has four work-streams: (1) Data Modeling; (2) Information Layer Strategic Architecture; (3) Data Management & Quality; and (4) Information Flow Analysis. The purpose is to provide data management service to the STRIVE program.

Objectives:

Define and maintain common business terms.
Develop and maintain data standards.
Develop and maintain data quality rules.
Develop and maintain cross reference data.

Deliverables:

Data Governance Framework
Data Standards.
Business glossary.
Data Quality Framework.
Cross reference data.

The Information and Architecture teams will work together to define data flows, map data models, and redefine the systems infrastructure to be implemented to streamline the data flow and capture these along with relevant data definition, metadata and accountabilities into data standards and facilitate the adoption of the governance and standards as required. And then facilitate the adoption of data governance, standards, and data clean up as required.

The work-stream for Data Management and Quality seeks a lead to act as the Deputy for the Business Process Owner for our Master and Operational Data Standards and Governance.

The STRIVE program is considering and Agile approach and we would like to see the DM&Q adopt this into their approach as appropriate. The DM&Q lead would work with the MODS BPO and Agile experts to recommend and then execute an approaches best can be determined in alignment with stakeholders. While seen as a challenge since the current MODS approach takes months to execute due to our complex infrastructure and distributed stakeholder governance; we would like to streamline the approach where possible.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Data Standards and Governance Approach (in initial 2-3 months):
  • Work with other work streams across STRIVE to understand priorities, roadmap, business case, objectives and progress completed
  • Define approach, resources and planning for work-stream. Clarify deliverables, objectives and overall integration with other STRIVE work-streams and the MODS Project.
  • Propose and secure alignment from MODS Business owner on the overall data scope (domain, data objects, etc.) that the DS&G team will be supporting for STRIVE
  • Identify the set of stakeholders across the company who will need to be engaged to facilitate the creation, management, adoption of data standards for the data objects in scope
  • Develop an implementation and resource plan required to deliver on the STRIVE deliverables and objectives related to Data Standards and Governance

b) STRIVE DM&Q Execution Support (Ongoing):

  • Oversee execution of work-packages to develop standards in an integrated fashion with the other STRIVE work-streams.
  • Facilitate overall STRIVE adoption and compliance with MODS process and governance approach, ultimately representing MODS hands on support for STRIVE.
  • Guide and manage the Data Standards and Governance Work-stream by coordinating efforts by assigned resources and working with leaders across other impacted customer/supplier work-streams as required to execute STRIVE Work-packages.
  • Oversee execution of the MODS process and governance; provide updates and enhancements and tools as needed. As needed design and coordinate governance extensions needed for STRIVE (eg new data domains being added etc.). Propose new sustaining resources required for ongoing DG&S operations.
  • Incorporate/engage the existing MODS Project/DGO resources into the approach to both support deliverables of STRIVE, so as to maintain alignment with MODS approach and leverage existing resources.
  • Facilitate the approval of standards, assignment/adoption of specific data accountabilities for work packages, following MODS Data Governance Framework and ownership. Support enhancements to MODS as needed.

Must Haves:

  • Expert in Data Governance ( years of experience), Data Standards (+4 years of experience), Modeling, and developing the capabilities needed to implement & execute these.
  • Strong leadership (+7 years of experience) and change management capabilities able to work across entire STRIVE program and influence and/or provide oversight to all work-streams and STRIVE Steering Committee.
  • Strong ability to work through organizational complexity and propose a working plan that will be scalable as priorities and scope continue to be in flux.
  • Strong analytical skills (not only understanding Data Standards, but also knowing how to apply).
  • Great communication skills (excellent English)
  • Soft skills: strong leadership; professional interaction with people; communicative and open-minded but also diplomatic.
  • Open to travel to SSF for business purposes

Note to the requirements:

On the one hand, the contractor should have technical skills and would have the role like a Business Analyst. On the other hand, the contractor should have strong leadership skills and act as a great leader.

Nice to Haves:

Enthusiastic regarding Data (having a big interest and a good feeling for data)
Former Pharma experience
Other languages: German

Additional information:

Operate on a day-to-day basis as an Operational Lead for MODS activities within STRIVE under the direction of 1) the MODS Business Owner, 2) the STRIVE Information & Technology Workgroup Lead and 3) the local oversight (MODS IT Lead).

End date: 28.02.2018


Location: Basel (20% remote work possible prior to agreement)
